Day 14 - On the Road Again

Howard here, yesterday we started our trip back to Sullivan's Island with a short jump to Orange, CA, from San Diego. Maryrose and I went to Knott's Berry Farm where we were shaken and stirred on every major ride they had. It's hard to say, but I think our favorite was the Xcelerator which launches you from 0 to 82 mph in 157 feet of track in 2.3 seconds and then sends you over a 205 foot crest with a twist in it. I think it's on YouTube. Maryrose maintained a 20 second piercing scream.
Last night we had a perfectly delightful visit with Aunt Genie, cousins Lucy and Don, Edina and her kids Maxx and Zoe. We have seen any of them since we left San Diego in 2003.
Today we are heading to Las Vegas via Death Valley where the temperature is currently 95 and will hit 119 this afternoon. It's a dry heat so it will only feel like 105!
So far on this trip we've traveled 3501 miles and we are now 2497 miles from Sullivan's Island. We're not taking a direct route back so we will clock up many more miles than that.
We'll get caught up with more pictures from San Diego in a later post. All the best, Howard
(Aside from Eve - we are camped at Orangeland, an RV park with orange trees at each site. The Valencias are ripe now and they are dee-lish and joo-see. Campers can borrow a picker from the office and harvest as many as they like. We'll put a picture up later. You will see that we are not in an orange grove, but the trees do improve the ambiance of the asphalt aspect. Skies a hazy gray last night - reminded us of Long Island where the stars are obscured by bright city lights. Here it must be hosts of angels hovering overhead in diaphanous robes.)

  1. Hello Rolling Stones!
What a fantastic trip. I love following along with your blog. White Sands is now on my list of places to visit next time.
I mentioned your blog to Father Ralph and Tracey Zirkel. Is it okay to pass it on to them?
Michael's in Las Vegas today. He went running yesterday in 110 degree heat -- crazy. Stay cool.
